I am in the process of going raw, purchasing freezer this weekend, so excited. Here is where I am having some troubles. I have an EPI boy who is also allergic to Pork. The medication for EPI contains proteases, which as luck would have it comes from pork. I have heard that I can use a beef pancreas same as I would pork pancreas to get the same effect. Has anyone heard of this? Also how would you process the pancreas? Could anyone recommend a good blender/meatgrinder? I just ordered the book "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats" by Kymythy R Schultze. Can anyone recommend any other books. I liked this one because is gave a month menu, at least it will be helpful while I learn. Is there anything else I am going to need?
Instructions say to remove bone and skin before grinding, but I ignore that (so much for my warranty!) and so far it's held up very well to grinding 1-inch chunks of meat, chicken neck and chicken leg bones. I only grind when I need to make "meatballs" for my cats so I can add vitamins to their diet. Otherwise they and the dog get unground bones and meat.
