I have a 10 week old boerboel male pup. he is very playful.
fo some reason he always tries to nip or bite my wife. Why do you think that is? Yet, he doesn't do it with me. i do spend much more tim with him than my wife does, she works from 9-5 daily. Does he see me as dominant? last night he ripped her tshirt, i'm sure he was just playing. My wife said e plays too rough, I say he needs to play because he has a great prey drive nd I don't want to ruin that. is there anything she an d to control him?
I dont think he sees you as dominant, alpha and he sees your wife as lower in rank. Pups chew, nip and bite at that age, because that's what they do. It's very common. When they are with their parents and littermates, they bite each other to show rank and also learn that it hurts. When a pup is pulled from it's pack, it doesn't realize that it hurts anymore because it is not being bit back.
I would suggest to steer the biting to something else. Toys or raw bones. If the pup tries to bite you or your wife, correct him w/a no. Don't correct him any other way. It's very natural for him to do this, you just have to give him the right stuff to bite or chew on.
