i practice training my dog daily, sit, stay, lay, paw, heal, and jump plus fetch.
i try to little and often and make it fun and interesting but he seems to be loosing interest and is being more ignorant towards my comands, in other words does it wen he wants to, i no he understands the comands but chooses not to obey.
i understand that dogs at a ripe age of 9 monthes to 14 monthes go through this stage but if these any way i can correct this myself?
he is becomming less obedient by the day and sometimes refuses recall and walks past you however stupid i make myself look by sweet talking him, i havent changed my training tecneeks so i cant understand why this is happening.
also he is loosing interest in playing certain games like fetch and frisby, he runs after it stops and walks off and refuses a recall?
Well that is the terrible teenager stage, but if your dog is getting bored, try changing some stuff. For example, if he has been used to toys in training, try food or a different toy. If he is used to food, try a really good food he never gets.
Does he have access to toys at all times? My dog would act like that at times, and once I learned that "all toys were MY toys" and began putting them away, she goes crazy for those toys in training. I keep the training to about 8-10 mins TOPS. Usually shorter with sit, down, play dead etc.
i have two sets of toys, ones he has that i dont really play with him with and my set that i play with him so he gets excited to play but this has now stopped and i use a mix of toys and food, in training
Try putting him in the outside kennel or crate away from you in the house for 20min to 2 hrs before training sessions. Bring out your toy immediately after taking him out while puppy is still in the 'I'm so happy to see you and be free' stage. This might increase co-operation in the fetch games. Also if you are sure your dog knows the recall don't be afraid to correct for not coming.
on a different note,i would have liked to put a post with regards to this matter however ,i dont know where to start with,k,to make things short i would like to get people's opinion on this one,i know almost all for decades breeders would hate the so called mass production of dogs or PUPPY MILLS,but isnt the jinopo kennel guilty of this?fyi they produce more than 300 pups a month!!and outselling the whole of europe!!!and how many of those pups ,i wonder are REAL dogs?
i have been hearing good raps about jinopo though but counting my numbrs im figuring, maybe its just a fad?or they made great marketing strategy and therefore maybe just maybe not doin justice to thye dogs?producing 300 pups monthly is definitely a puppy factory as we call it...but where do those pups go?for them to produce that uch you guys think quality is still a priority for them?
