For those of you who raw feed, how often does your dog pass stool?
My older GSD has been eating raw for a year, but she also has EPI and is fighting a Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth and sometimes has large stools for those reasons.
Just switched my 1 yr old GSD over completely a few days ago (was kibble and raw), and I can't believe how little she leaves behind! She also had dropped down from going 2x a day to 1x. I'm interested in seeing if it also clears up her intermitent coprophagia (sp?)
I haven't switched over completely yet, they get little kibble in the a.m. and meat in the p.m. and they leave behind little white "pebbles" and sometimes very dark colored "stuff". They're still pooping twice a day(more when we go to the park-not a dog park, anyone else have this happen?). Can't wait till they're pooping only once a day!
No worries, Melissa. My dogs poop only once a day which is way better than five times a day each when they were on kibble. Their poops aren't as offensive either and the clean up is a lot easier.
Indeed - I'm constantly amazed at how LITTLE comes out of my great big 93lb dog since we switched to raw over a year ago! He just utilizes SO MUCH of what goes in... And he goes an average of 2 times a day (he's fed twice as well).
Boy I remember when one of my boy back when he was on kibble was going at least 4 to 5 times a day and it was a soft serve 100% of the time
Now it's twice a day and because it is so dry here, it's like perfectly round and solid and turns to ash later...

My dogs go once or twice a day. Depends on which dog.
My Mal and my Dutch poop more (not more volume, actually just little poops) when we go out to train. I chalk it up to being excited about getting to work because all goes back to normal when we get home. The Bloodhound won't poop when we are traveling for less than two days but will go if he has to if we are gone longer. The Lab is twice a day and the puppies are three times right now.
Everything goes back to normal when we get home or just exercising and are out playing fetch or whatever.
