I get mad every time I see these 'new' and 'improved' German shepherds. This breed has really been ruined time and time again. Ugly, gangly, oversized, teddy bear, completely unworkable ... where will the bastardisation of these dogs end. Its turning into a complete joke. And it makes me madder when these so called breeders keep churning out pup after pup that are an insult to what a real shepherd stands for. Pity the AKC keeps allowing this to happen.
I dont care what my boss said ... Flurescent yellow shirts did not increase workplace enthusiasm ...
I liked the FAQ's on the bottom of the main page, about are the dogs King shepherds and shiloh shepherds. They are, but the breeder in a way denies this, though they say they do have "Shiloh" in the lines under the dog descriptions. It is sad to think that people(myself included) thought that the AKC standards stood for something and were something to really go by on what your dog looks like, it's personality, etc. which is apparently false in this aspect.

Just want to clarify something - the AKC is a registering body. In other words, if the dog has registered parents, they register the puppies. They are not the "caretakers" of breeds as is often inferred in these discussions. So in my opinion, it is a pity that there are GSD breeders out there that keep breeding dogs like this.
Not saying that the AKC is all goodness and sunshine, just that this not an area where they should take the blame, at least in my opinion. If the GSD community can't police their breed how does one expect the AKC to police 150+ breeds? Yeah they could choose not to register these mammoths but where does it stop? Dogs that are 1/4 of an inch over standard? It would be a bloody nightmare and the last thing I want is an organization the size of the AKC getting involved with my breeding decisions.
I think it would be pretty simple for the AKC to not allow a litter to be registered without seeing the parents certified somehow through an approved vet. They can always do breeding surveys. I just don't think it would be in their best interest to go through all this.
I'm not saying that the AKC should be held responsible for these dogs, just noting that the dogs aren't "true" GSD's so to speak. They have been mixed with other GSD crosses-Shiloh Shepherd(which at one time were just GSDs, but were altered for size, sound hips, and steady temperment by a lady named Tina Barber(info from book:the new encyclopedia of the dog by Bruce Fogle DVM).
Basically, Shiloh's are giant GSD's like a King Shepherd(which was american and european GSD's, alaskan malamutes, and great pyrenees mixed together. Neither of which are recognized by the AKC, only offical breed clubs made for both.
So, my thing is that the AKC is letting anyone say that some dogs that had a different breed brought into the lines is a purebred dog. Does that make any sense?
If I didn't know what I know about dogs and the GSD breed, I would have thought that Shiloh was a family name for the kennel the previous dog was from and might have considered a puppy-very expensive, spay/neutered at/before 8 wk old pup, that would be worthless for any kind of work(herding, tracking, SchH, PPD, etc. because it was probably bred out of the dog with the size increase.
This is all JMHO, take it lightly.
I think the pity should be placed on the people that do not inform themselves and keep buying this crappy dogs. If there's no demand, there are no sales. Most people take their dogs for granted. We see it here in MN a lot. You see all this yellow labs in the suburbs just because junior wants a freakin' toy dog. When the kid is done with him they throw him in the back yard and forget about him. In a way I'm glad that the majority do not own working dogs because of the simple fact that they do not deserve them, no matter how much money they have.
