Did you hear about the guy that fed a 3wk old puppy to his snake? Even oiled the pup up so the snake could get it to go down easier. Showing off in front of some teenagers. Honestly, what is wrong with people? I can't understand why anyone would want to do something like that. I'm so freaking sick of sickos I just wish that for one day I could be granted immunity from God and go around taking care of some of these dimented whackos! In a world where it is so easy to get a rat/rabbit/mouse what could he have been thinking? I think I'm just about ready to go grizzly adams and find a mountain somewhere where I can raise my kids the good old fashioned way. With prayer and patriotism on the table every day! GRRRRRR!!! Sorry, just had to vent.
I have a snake large enough to eat a dog, and many times folks have wanted me to feed him a pup or a cat but there's no way I could do it. Looking at it from a circle of life thing it's natural, just as rabbit lovers hate when you feed a rabbit to a snake yet someone mentioned rabbits or rats etc. I guess since cats and dogs are commonly pets we don't see them as food. My wife has rats as pets and some are actually named food until the day of reconning.
That said, in the reptile community, the feeding of anything much passed a rabbit or pig is not only frowned upon but they would get the same feedback as you all have given. I'd bet this one person did it mostly for shock value but the effect it has on the reptile community is crippling. Please remember this was one person, not all, that over stepped the boundaries.

Was the puppy dead already when he fed it to the snake? That would make it a little less awful. But it wouldn't make the person who did it any less disgusting, if they did this just to show off how tough they are. If I had a pet reptile, I think I would try to teach it that it didn't have to constrict and eat live prey. I know it happens in nature, but not in my house.
I read some of the reports and they say he fed his puppy live to his snake with his kids watching, not some random teenagers he was trying to impress. I'm thinking someone bragged about it or we wouldn't have this thread.
It also said he failed to appear in court for it and now has a warrant for his arrest. He's facing 1 year and $100K. They also said his snake was confiscated because it was also not treated well. His excuse was feeding his snake was expensive and he couldn't afford it.
