I'm just curious, other than the people feeding RAW diets to their dogs, what are people feeding in light of the recalls? I'm feeding Canidae, no problems ever and dog's love it. What dry/wet foods are people feeding and what has their experience been with it? Ed has a great list on his site that recommends quality dry foods...is anyone using other brands?
I started out with IAMS PUPPY, and discovered the "hard" way that my puppy has an intolerance to WHEAT. We never even made it through the first bag. I returned the 2nd bag back to Wal-Mart and brought the left overs of the 1st bag to the Animal Shelter. After Boiled Turkey & Rice & Applesauce for about 3 weeks, I started with Nature's Variety and the pup ate his way (unenthusiactically at best) through (2) 30lb bags. I just started him on Canidae last week and he loves it. He still likes his people food treats, but he loves his dog food.

Honest Kitchen is big in my house and I also have a bag of Chicken Soup, Nutro Puppy and Natural Balance. All of my dogs are on a raw diet.
I have not yet researched Canidae. But since it is talked about so much here, I am going to look into it. I also like Innova and Innova-Evo.
I keep kibble around for dogs that come in for a short while.

I looked into Innova EVO also, found it was too high in protein for puppies- makes them grow very quickly. Will most likely alternate between candidae and EVO when he is fully grown. Their products are awesome though. I've been feeding Canidae consistently but switching with either Blue Buffalo or Natural balance as an alternative every 3 or 4 bags, but they're now in the recall list so I'll switch between different Canidae formulations.
As a side note, we feed our cat Innova EVO for cats and, for a 10 year old cat, we haven't seen him this full of beans in years. He sheds less, pukes A LOT less, his coat looks good and his teeth are much cleaner.

Natural Balance only recalled the Venison product....I contacted them and they are confident that the other products are safe to feed.
Now, although this made me nervous when I first heard the recall, none of the animals I have that get it (I also use the rolls for bait and treats) have any issues.
All had blood work done and levels are great.
I am confident that as long as you stay away from the venison for now it is okay.
Never heard of Blue Buffalo....have to look that up as well.

WHat bothered me about Natural Balance is their initial claim that they create all their own food. IT's actually manufactured by Diamond Foods and it uses a lot of the same imported ingredients as other cheaper foods. If you do a search for Natural Balance, this is mentioned in some other posts. Same goes for Blue Buffalo.
