I wouldn't blame the contracted manufacturer, i blame Blue Buffalo. THat's whose name is on the product and that's who is selling the product. Sounds like faulty quality control and they're trying to pass the buck to cover their behinds.
I hate to say this, and I still feed Canidae dry and have not had any problems, but I'm wondering how much of this is over reaction? How many cats and dogs have actually died or gotten sick from the chemicals that were added? Also, i thought cats were the ones mostly affected. I'm all for being safe rather than sorry, but I think a large part of this is over reaction. I've read many stories about concerned pet owners who's animals are sick- you get what you pay for.
For all the people who feed their dogs Alpo, Iams, etc., it's like eating McDonald's or Subway everyday and then wondering why your cholesterol levels are through the roof and why you have diabetes and are depressed. If you feed your dog crap, it's going to feel like crap.
What are all the raw people going to do when the avian flu hits US Chickens or there is a salmonella outbreak or a new strain of mad cow hits the livestock supply in the US? ;-)

What will we do? Find another way! Borrowing bad luck is silly. Besides, if that ever DOES happen, it will mean that human food sources are affected. MANY more people will be miffed about it and more will be done and quicker to fix the issue.

I wasn't being serious when I wrote that about raw food, I was being serious about the rest of the post.
Although I am curious if people who feed raw every worry about the long term effects of chemical, hormones and steroids that are added to "human grade" meats. The fact that organ meat is fed to your pets, and this is where most of the chemicals residues accumulate, are you ever worried?
