I picked up my new pup last week. I have the 8 Week Puppy DVD but I can't remember which flea product was recommended. Was it Advantage or Advantix?
I’m in Riverside California and on the edge of the county line. We have Rabbits and Coyotes in our area and I want to protect against fleas and ticks.
Speaking of Rabbits, how bad is it for her to eat the rabbit poop? They are all over the lawn every night and they leave dropping literally everywhere around the yard.
Does anyone in the Riverside area have a vet they can recommend? My cousin likes the Arlington Animal Hospital.

Awww...Very cute, very preppy pink and green pup
Either product is fine. Advantix protects against fleas and ticks while Advantage works only on fleas. If you have cats in the house be aware that Advantix is toxic to cats.
I didn't let my pup eat wild critter poop...I worried about parasites.

I already found a flea on her, so I want to start something. Last summer I saw a big fat tick on one of the little rabbits.
The Advantix says that it is ok for puppies. Should I use something else until x months of age?
My yard has just about every kind of surface you can think of (grass, dirt, DG, bark, etc.). She is like a little vacuum out there, she picks up rocks, grass, dirt, sticks and anything else she can fir in her mouth. She likes to smell and explore the yard and I don’t want to yell “no” or “leave it” every 5 seconds.
When I install the new fence I might add a hotwire near the ground. I will only turn on the hotwire at night time when the rabbits are active. I’m not sure if that will stop them or not.

Sarah, if you see this, which is the one that keeps mosquitos away?
Keith, your puppy is beautiful! More details (name, etc)

Advantix says:
1) K9 Advantix® contains imidacloprid, which stops fleas from biting in less than 5 minutes and starts killing within an hour.
2) Repels and kills ticks. If a Tick is repelled, it doesn't attach. If it doesn't attach, it can't transmit organisms that cause disease.
3) Repels and kills mosquitoes before they can bite.
The puppy name has been a big discussion. I have never named an AKC Registered dog before. My last shepherd was named Natasha, but everyone called her Tasha.
This pup is from Regalwise, so her name will start:
“Regalwise S” with 19 characters left over.
I like several “S” names: Samantha, Serenity, Sabrina
My wife and I both like Starbuck
“Regalwise Starbuck” just seems to be missing something. I had about 12 people over for a picnic last weekend and “tried” to get some help on the names. They were no help at all. This is what I have right now, but it sounds a little silly to me:
Regalwise Starbuck Von Pup - Her initials would be RSVP
Regalwise Starbuck Von Puphund ???

Keith , your pup eating rabbit poop is a normal reaction to any predator, and most wild dogs will eat their preys' poop, there is actual benefit to it.I don't think you should worry that much about it and your pup will outgrow that habit.
Cute puppy, why white?

This is actually my 3rd German Shepherd and my second White dog. I like the white dog because it is something that you rarely see. I can't count how many times people told me that they have never seen a white Shepherd when I was out walking Tasha. It has already happened once with Starbuck and she has only been on 3 walks.

Well they are beautiful but you know in Germany it's a big nono to breed them or keep them if they pop up in any litters of GSD.
They say that beauty is only skin deep in a shepherd but their "working" ability is far more beautiful, have you ever heard or read up on the white shepherds.I am asking because I hear that all the time when the conversation of a white shepherd pops up and I have always wondered what the owners of white shepherds say about it.I am not against the white shepherd at all ,more of curious of why there is a stigma on it.And where they get the idea to reject the white shepherd? I am always open to educate myself on any type or color of shepherds and wonder what your research has been since you own a few..
