For the past month I've been noticing the hair on my year and a half old dobe thinning. It's mostly on his back legs and a small patch on his back. Then, the other day I wake up and as I was getting him ready for our morning walk, I noticed a bunch of bumps all over his back! I'm really worried and it kills me to see him like this. Since I've gotten him, all I've fed him was Innova puppy until about 2 months ago, then switched to adult. He didn't seem to like the new adult food and when I started seeing his hair thinning I quickly switched to a raw diet. He doesn't act different and I don't see him scratching but it looks horrible.

Allergic atopy is intensely itchy.
I would take the dog to the vet. If it's not alopecia with folliculitis, then the vet will probably do a scraping to find out what it is.
Folliculitis is when alopecia starts to involve the skin, and follicles start getting recurring infections. Is the hair there kind of brittle?
I think that alopecia is pretty much untreatable, except that the infections of the follicular involvement should be treated, of course.
But I have also read that it doesn't seem to affect the dog adversely (aside from the skin infections).
Another thing that's common in Dobes is hypothryoidism, and I have read that a Dobe with a thin or thinning coat should be tested for hypothyroidism first.
