Has anyone tried drying liver in a food dehydrator. I have been using some of those soft rolls and biscuits for treats but wanting something a bit healthier if possible. Training bribery. Some people don't seem to like the food bribery but it makes for easy training.
I use food rewards in training to mix it up a bit.
Anyway, I have never tried dehydrating liver myself, but I do buy the freeze dried liver treats to use with my dog. Perhaps you should do a comparison test for us!
I don't have a dehydrator, but I do use my oven. When we have things like left over chicken breast, steak, turkey, etc. - I cut it into very small pieces and throw it in the oven for an hour at 350 degrees. I keep an eye on it and when it starts to get hard, then I pull it out of the oven. I store them in the freezer and just grab out what I need. My dogs will eat them frozen.
If you want commercial treats, check out Zukes brand (my favorite) or Simon & Huey's are good too.
