Innova is human grade... I can't find anything else that works quite as well for my female. However, it is very "rich" (calorie dense) so when you switch over... your dog will likely have diarrhea for a week or so... even if you transition slowly. This deters many from using it.
It seems to result in very healthy dogs with energy and excellent coat.
We have been feeding Innova for about a year, and our dogs continue to have some loose stools on a regular basis. Also since the calories are so dense the feeding volume is small and we have had to really play around with the amounts to control the dogs weight. For 2 of the dogs we are mixing the adult and senior to get a good volume so they don't feel hungry and still get the proper calories to keep the weight right.

I've been using it for about a year and a half. It's probably one of the better prepared brands you will find.
Innova has been working well for Chance & myself. He's a lean 100#. I feed about a cup in the morning and another in the evening. The balance of the diet (~20%) is California Natural treats, chicken liver, gizzards, mackeral, or tuna. The Eukanuba breath has gone away. Coat looks great. Energy is great too. However, I don't really have anything to compare him against. So great is pretty subjective.
A friend of mine feeds the Senior formulation to her 9 year old. Previously on Eukanuba, Dallas would get sores in the corner of her mouth and on her belly. After switching to Innova, those sores disappeared and have not returned. Dallas free-feeds and gets a glucosamine suppliment. She keeps up well with Chance.
I've been using california's natural (same company but food with limited ingredients) and have no complaints other than occasional loose stools. We supplement with a greenie 1x day which helped "tighten him up." his coat is great - we always get complimented.
