My puppy is 4 months old and today we (she) had her first vomiting incident. I am trying not to be a hypochondriac about it, but I do lean that way .
This a.m. she had a chicken leg, which she gets a few times a week. She gets raw chicken all the time and has never had a problem. Since I brought her with me to work today, I gave her a marrow bone to keep her busy. No problem with that. Then, about 3pm, I gave her the bone we cut off a steak (raw) to chew on. She jumped on that and ate the end of the bone (what she could eat with her baby teeth). Then, about 1/2 later she vomited twice all food related items in her tummy. Then, for about the next hour she vomited whitish/yellowish foamy, slimey bile. If I hadn't been with her all day I would have thought she got into something. She looked miserable, so sad. She had drool all over her face, but she hasn't vomited since. She is much more perky, but still not herself. She did have a normal bowel movement around 5 pm.
Could it have been the steak bone? There was a little meat on it but not much. Other than the frozen RMB and marrow bones I get from the butcher, she has never had Beef bone. If she ate a piece that was too big, would that make her vomit (and keep vomiting and feel ill)? What else would cause a sudden onset of vomiting? I didn't feed her tonight. I started feeding her twice a week last weekend without any problems.
