I just found a source for raw meats in my area and the prices sound good but what do I know?
Here are the prices
Chicken backs .35 per lb
Chicken necks .29 per lb
Turkey necks .39 per lb
Ground turkey 16.00 for 20 lbs
Anybody getting a better deal? The meat is fresh, and she is looking into getting me some green tripe.
Where is a good place to find those oleo carrots?(I know I am not spelling it right I have to look it up again ) I am currently following Ed's 1 week diet plan until I get more info from the 9.00 book I ordered.
I get my chicken for $.29 a lb, necks or backs. Only catch is I have to order 400lbs at a time. They deliver it to my door and stuff it in my freezer for me though.
I can get livers(chicken) for $.10 a pound, but it is so messy I just buy them from the store.
Wow that is great!
Im buying 40 lbs at a time, no delivery. Is the company local? I'm in Washington DC.
Geeze, how big is your freezer!
That amount has got to last you a looong time!
I order for me and two other people so most of it leaves on the day it arrives. We have 8 dogs between us all so it works out ok. I think I am the only one that is feeding just raw though. The others still feed some kibble. I have to order about every 8-10 weeks. Considering you don't have to buy in bulk I would say that you got a good deal. Especially in your area.
I have fed both the chicken necks and turkey necks. My dog inhales the chicken necks whole, so I like the turkey necks better, but I do feed chicken necks. It is all what you are comfortable with.
And, yes, it is a big freezer
I pay .38 pound for chicken necks or backs. I am able to order 40 pounds or 400. Lucky I guess. I found out through the butcher that there are several others feeding a natural diet in this area (kind of odd considering most people don't know any other breed than a treeing walker). I'm curious about venison, it's deer season now. I can get all the carcasses I want, is there anything I should be concerned about?
