On one of Ed's video tapes when he discuss's cages, I believe its his puppy one. He flash's a phone number of a company that makes rubber matting that he uses for his dogs. I also bought this for my GSD and I love it.
The moral of my story is does anyone have this number. I recently moved and videos are packed up and a friend wants the number so he could get it for his. anyone???
I purchased two - one for under the crate and one for in and they are wonderful. I don't hear my dog moving around at all and it is really easy to clean!
question about these mats= has anyone been able to get rid of the petroleum/tire smell? I've washed the mat twice in soap and hot water and left it out in the sun for weeks and it still smells. I can't use it in the house at all.

I noticed when I had one of these that the sun (heating it) makes it worse.
I stored it in the garage/shed (unheated, not very well insulated) for a couple of weeks and the smell was reduced a lot.
You know how new tires stink but then it goes away? It was like that.
I use the inter-locking mats they sell at auto supply stores and hardware stores. They come 6 to a pack. 24" by 24". They are not as Heavy duty as the other ones, but as long as your dog isnt too destructive they hold up. Our English Setter likes to dig around a little before laying down and she hasnt damaged these. They're washable and have no scent though and cost between 7 and 10 dollars.

Thanks alot!!! Someone said that they have problems with it still smelling. I have to say I really didn't that problem where it was over bearing but the problem I do have is no matter how well i clean the matt, a white paper towl will always be black!!
LOL - I have one sitting in my dooryard "airing" out. I need to get the dims of the crate so I can cut it and then I'll do the final cleaning, as mine came from one of "our" horse stalls.
My sister took it out of the stall to use as protective flooring in the back of their RV in the garage part, and left me the remnant. Free is Very Cool.
But my concern for Clean is Much more than hers due to usage plans. I can tell you that I've never smelt that rubber tire smell though.
I havent' been able to get rid of the rubber smell but Tessa doesn't seem to mind! I do notice that is helps to contain the hair she is shedding... it collects around the edge of the crate and makes it easy for me to vacuum up!
I have cleaned it a few times and well, it's still black and so it the cloth I used...lol.
