I bought some Chicken Thighs and Legs and Some Chicken Hearts just to try him, on his new diet, I hope for the best that he will take to it, He certainly is not a finicky eater, the problem is my knives will not cut through the chicken Bones to make it to a reasonable size pieces for him to eat. It means tomorrow i will have to buy a Meat Cleaver Should i add a little Salmon Oil & Vitamin E to the Food first time or just let him eat it without any supplements

I used to use that to break up the bones for my Mal.....also, nice clean tree trimming shears (smaller ones) work well also. They are curved and IMO that helps keep the chicken stable. It's rich, and I always start adding that in slowly and gradually after the dog has started with just skinned chicken. Most dogs are just fine with everything, but a few are better off going slowly, one ingredient addition at a time, and starting with no skin (which is where much of the fat is), just to acclimate the system. Also, then if there IS a little reaction to one item, you'll know which one it was. Fish oil, however, is so unlikely to cause any problems (IME), and is so beneficial, that I start that (1/2 of the eventual dose) right away.

Tonight I will add with the skin, some fat. Like Connie said, I began adding half of the salmon oil since Tues, and yesterday gave a pill of vitamin E. I'll prob add some ground beef today too. Organ meat I think on Sat/Sun....My dog is taking to the raw VERY WELL Thanks for all your help Connie!

That's how I start a new dog, too. Slow and easy.... in fact, slower than this. They sometimes need to kick-start the production of the enzymes that digest bones, I believe, after a long time on kibble. Good job, Alex, and I'm happy that it's going so smoothly!
