Delivered our first litter Thursday night (7/28/07) and after 14 pups being born we only lost one and that was DOA. We did try to revive it because it was a fully developed pup but we were unsucessful, we were able to revive a second that was having a hard time breathing using methods Ed talks about in his video. What an awesome experience this has been. We have 13 very healthy Cane Corsos thanks to Ed's video and help from the Whelp Wise service. My dam has become a good mother though it took her a couple days to figure out her role. She does very good now but gets a little nervous when we take her pups to do supplemental feedings.
Thanks, I'm working with the breeder I used for stud to find good homes for these pups. So far we have half of them sold but most of the time these litters sell well before the 8-9 week mark. I think it's a little easier to find homes for rare breeds than more of your common breeds even though they tend to be more expensive.
Well First I want to say congrats, wow that many pups!, incredible.
I think you have to be careful about "rare breeds" buyers as suppose to your "non rare" breed buyers.
Rare breeds attracts all kinds of people that are interested in telling others they "have a rare breed" as supposed to know anything about the breed itself and the history...
I hope you find great homes for these pups.
Wow huge litter, congrats! Make sure the mother has enough milk to support that many and doesn't run dry. Some people suggest splitting the litter and letting 7/6 at the mother for feeding so the weaker pups don't get screwed out of their milk by the piggies Have fun with that one! I got to be around for a 10 pup litter and all I can say is that I am glad it wasn't at MY house LOL.
