He is a pretty boy. I'm glad I wasn't the first to notice Koda's weight issue though....I bet he'd chill (on some other issues you've mentioned) considerably if you ran him for an hour each morning...well, work your way up. What is his exercise regieme now?
Thanks for your compliments on Koda. He was large when I aquired him and just kept getting larger. His weight tapered off last year and he maintains the 140 lbs.
He gets walked about forty minutes every day and sometimes less because it's so hot here in Florida. He just can't take the heat for long and neither can I.
As for running...I think I would stroke out if I tried to run. I was considering building a cart and when my Bernese Mountain Dog/Great Pyrenees grows up, have the two of them pull me!! ;-)

It would be great for those dogs to cart pull, however, the GSD needs to get into shape and lose quite a bit of weight. The picture comes in small and I cannot make it larger so I would not venture to guess how much weight needs to be lost.
I agree with putting him on Raw diet and slowly upping his exercise regime.....
I would feed the quantity for 2% body weight......
If you do not think you can run this dog the way he needs to be run, I would look into hiring a jogger or a responsible teen to run the dog for you. That is, if he is friendly enough to do that with.
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
I hope you don't feel attacked here, because that dog is eating WAY too many calories.
If you want to PM me about what you're feeding, feel free. It hurts my heart to see a dog on the way to joint disease and a whole mess of other health issues.
You're on a forum (and it's a GOOD thing) where the dogs matter a lot more than the feelings of the handlers.
