Sorry if this is the wrong place!
I have a 10 week old Golden Retriever and I'd like to get
everything he needs during is lifetime in one big package.
So, which DvD's should I get? The Leerburg video list is quite intimidating to a new handler like myself, and I want to make sure I get everything I need, or even more then that because I find that the most enjoyable time of the day is spent with the little guy. I wouldn't mind trying agility training but this is my first dog and I doubt I'd be able to train him right. (I'm sure I've done alot of things wrong at this point)
Besides that, what other products should I buy from Leerburg? Money is not an option, I'm not gonna get cheap on him. (This includes toys, vests, leads, collars or any of that stuff!)
Thanks alot for any help, and again sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Might as well add the e-collar vid.
I have to give an AMEN to the amish leather collar and leash, too. Very nice, high quality leather goods.

I would'nt say that!
Just the fact that you've found this site with your pup being so young, you have an EXCELLENT chance at having a great agility dog. Especially with a dog as smart as a GR. I have made huge progress since I started posting in Feb. (I read this site for almost a year) plus with what I've learned from Ed's videos, my dog and I will hopefully be going for our BH & CD later this year.
I think the list of videos is a great choice. There is also an agility video. Definitely get the leather leashes, the long line, the orbee & the kong.

{{slapping head}} I completely forgot the e collar and E collar training DVD. Both of those are a must-have, IMO.
And Nathan...I'm working on my first dog (that's all my own)and I can say if you read the site, watch the videos, and keep asking questions as they arise you CAN have a lovely, well-mannered dog.
It's a really cool thing watching your dog do the things you've read about and didn't think you'd be able to teach. Very humbling, actually.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! I had a great idea on the biting. If I bought the bitter apple spray (I went through the catalog ) and sprayed them on my gloves, do you think that would stop the biting? Of course I'd spray the things he'd usually try to steal (LIKE MY FRIGGIN' PILLOW!!!!).
Your right Sarah, I wouldn't of ever thought of some of the suggestions here on the thought and I have to say...Ed Frawley is a hero to me now! (And of course all the more then wonderful people who've helped me progress to where I stand with Kiba now!)

Nathan, if you get a prong collar in the package, make sure it's the size it needs to be when he's old enough to use it (about 6 months) and remember you can always add links, and decide if you want the quick release prong or not.
I got the regular prong at first, but my pup was so mouthy it was hard to get it on him, extremely hard, so I opted for the quick release (which also happens to be "quick on" as well as quick off).
The Dominant Dog dvd is good also, even if you don't have a dominant dog. Just filled with good foundational things to know. http://www.leerburg.com/301.htm
Some people might want to give you ideas of a few books to look through. I bought the Schutzhund Obedience Training through Drive; excellent book, just excellent. Even if you're not going to do Schutzhund, just the foundational principles of training a dog and the explanation of drives, etc, is more than worth getting this book. http://www.leerburg.com/925.htm
Oh! I just found a new product on the Leerburg site - Ultra Balls to take the place of tennis balls (another thing I need to get): http://www.leerburg.com/772.htm#ultraballs

Nathan,
We ALL do some things wrong! Training is a journey of ups and downs. Focus on what you've done right!
I just started taking agility last fall. I've had a lot of dogs in my life, but for some reason I never thought about trying agility until now. I've found agility to be a boatload of fun and it's a really creative way to get you and your dog working and thinking together like a team. You'll learn how to send your dog through the course and believe me, you'll make a LOT of mistakes. But that's what learning is all about!
Having a new pup is like starting with a clean slate ... keep an open mind and who knows where it will lead?

Hes afraid of tennis balls because of me. I threw one against a wall and it came back and slammed him in the face pretty hard. I felt really bad. xD Maybe the ultra balls will be alright.
I'll give agility a shot, even if it doesn't work out it seems like a good way to learn more about his body language and how he acts. Who knows, we might get good at it!
