I figured someone here would have some suggestions. Bayley, 16 months husky X female spayed goes ballistic in the car when she sees another dog..barking, growling jumping around. This is when she's in the back seat, where she 99% of the time is. She is harnessed and does it even if I haven't harnessed her. If I do let her in the front seat..very rarely, she doesn't do it. She'll look at the other dogs but not go into crazy mode. This is the only place she acts like this. At home if she sees a neighbour dog outside, she gives a couple of woofs and will be quiet if I tell her to, but she doesn't go nuts. She's fine with other dogs outside and at the dog park. I'm assuming she's 'protecting' her territory but it's pretty diffult to give a correction while driving! Suggestions are greatly appreciated as she usually goes off right in my Mom's ear and scares the **** out of her!!!!
I was going to make a comment about seeing how your dog reacts to a dog park but you said she is good so i am kind of confused. I would say try having your dog in the back seat and then bring another dog by the car when your dog starts go ballistic then give your dog a correction, this is all parked of course. Also try and calm your dog down and then take your dog out to the other dog and see how they interact and show your dog its ok.
