Anyone have any experience with or any thoughts on Bon Chien prepackaged Raw Food? I have 6 mouths to feed and preparing my own raw food has been a nightmare. If I order 500lbs at a time, the prepackaged raw is relatively inexpensive. Anyone have any feedback on this?

Looks interesting. How much is it per pound?
Which one are you thinking about? Are they all ground (looks like it)?

Looks like they have chicken and duck backs as well as some meaty neck bones.
I would want to try for every 3rd meal for example to be something not ground, for teeth cleaning and carnivore satisfaction purposes.
If the quality is good, it seems to have a good ingredient list.

I knew that name sounded familiar and not with a positive feeling. I don't think this has anything to do with the specific product you are asking about but you may want to read the messages at:
socalbarf.com
Home
Message Board
Click search and enter "Bon Chien"
Click next page until you get to the messages from about mid-July of 2006 and read the posts.
Again, I don't think it's related to the product you are interested in today but you may want to see the messages.

We have been using the Chicken + Veggies and the Duck + Veggies with good results. If you buy in bulk, the price drops to $1.20 per pound. We alternate between Chicken + Veggies (adding in some offals occaisionally) and Duck + Veggies (again adding in the Offals) and then every 3-4 days, the dogs get a meaty neck bone or a marrow bone. The bones are HUGE compared to what I get at the grocery store so those are a great value. Looks like the Green Tripe that was discussed on the socalbarf board was recalled and they no longer sell it. We typically get our tripe from a local butcher and supplement from time to time. So far the diet has been good but I wanted to get some extra feedback as I am used to preparing my dogs food myself...

I, for the life of me, cannot read the numbers at the top of this price list very well.....can someone tell me if I am reading that 5lbs of the Chicken and Veggies is $50??????
WOW, not with 7 dogs here........5 lbs is less than what I feed daily now......

I think that first column in "pricing" says 5 lbs, and underneath 30 lbs. The next one says 2 lbs and underneath 24.
So I'm guessing that the first column, for beef and vegetables, says that 30 lbs is $50, and the second one says 24 lbs is $45. So I guess that "5 lbs" means 30 lbs in 5-lb packages. So you pay slightly less per pound if you get it wrapped in larger packages. Those two prices would be $1.67/lb and $1.86/lb respectively.
It's very hard to read on my computer too.

Yes...its hard to read. You get a 30lb box (6 x 5lb chubs) for $50. If you buy more than 500 lbs at a time, the price drops to $1.20 per lb. You can also buy in 2lb chubs (1 box = 12 x 2lb chubs) but I think it is more expensive. We buy boxes of the 5lb chubs when we do it...we also get the bones which seem to be a great value...The only issue we have had is with delivery (because we have to be home when they come) as once, they showed up 2 hours late...but they don't charge for shipping to So. Cal so for me, its worth the hassle

Thanks guys....I think that it looks good but I will stick with what I do now.
I can still feed cheaper although the convenience is a good draw.
By the way, not to hijack, but I had to put my dogs on kibble for a few weeks since I was busy here with big fires, ambulance calls and also had a couple searches (the dogs got raw/thk on those) and I had to have someone come in and care for my dogs. Let me tell you, it sucked.
Rock lost a bit of energy, Jesea started licking and chewing her feet and Max's coat dulled out and he was shedding like mad.....and that was with giving THK when I was home. The other dogs did okay.
But, yesterday I spent half a day bagging and freezing enough raw meals for each dog for three days so in case I am called out again for days at a time they will have their REAL food.
It was an eye opener to see the gross changes and also that I never noticed stuff like that before. And the kibble was Innova and Chicken Soup.....fine for a meal here and there, but not if I don't have to.
All three are getting back to normal I am happy to report.
For people considering raw, I would really urge y'all to do it.
