We have a 25' x 25' area covered with pea gravel our GSD is trained to use as his bathroom. We scoop the poop. I know we should be disinfecting it from time to time with a bleach solution. For one dog, can anyone suggest how often we should disinfect and how much bleach we should use?
Hey Rich, I don't really bother measuring but I probably put about a 1/4 cup to a gallon of water. Where I live I have a lot of clay and sandstone so disinfecting the pea gravel isnt as big a deal as once in a while raking it out of the way to break up the wet soil underneath and letting it dry out on a hot day.

Since I have kennels with concrete floors and stall mats, I clean mine daily, sometimes every other day if I get really busy but that is not often.
I use a product called OdoBan. We use it to clean out our fire trucks and rescue units.
The kennel runs outside with gravel I use a carwash brush that attaches to the hose and has a soap resivoir that I use a really diluted OdoBan solution to spray it with and then rinse it after about 10 minutes and let it dry out. (100 degree helps that alot)
Then I rake the gravel back into place.
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
I also use the OdoBan in various situations - it is the best that I have seen for eliminating odors of any type on carpets, clothing, etc. Even when we had 4 cats, any "accidents" on the carpet would be undetected after spraying a solution of OdoBan. Can't remember where I bought it - it came as a concentrated solution in a gallon jug and has lasted a really long time.
