I would like too know if any of the west germany lines, mainly Karthago dogs have the courgae too become street worthy dogs with the strong fight drives too be police dogs? Does West german Karthago dogs, genetic potential compare too Czech or DDR k9s?How many service dogs handlers used or seen dogs from this line? I like to know before I waste any time training with protection/street dog in capabilities expectations in mind. opinions please
Most of the street dogs I have worked with are west german lines, alot of Czech dogs too, but a well selected west german line dog is just as good to me.
I have Fado von Karthago about 4 generations back in my dogs, a friend of a friend looked at the pedigree for my dogs before I decided on them and his only concern was that he didn't like what Fado produces, I don't remember the traits he didn't like but it was more like a temprement issue than a physical issue such as hips. But being that far back and knowing the good traits of Fado it doesn't worry me.
Is there any specific reason you are looking at the Karthago lines?
I have a son( banderos AKA "Bandit") out of Falk and he will be 2 in December. He is sooo pain tolerant it's crazy. He would make it to a street dog any day.He will bite with or without sleeve, he is so determined that he's the type of dog that I know if a 'bad guy" was to kick him or hit him he will fight to the end.His confidence is to the roof.I don't think I could get another dog like him , he's too nice..Bandit took time to mature but I am very pleased at what I have in this dog I wouldn't change a thing.Bandit is at far left to the signature photo and he was 8 months there.
I only asked because I have a bitch from this line & I know nothing about german shepherd lines. I always hear those that claim too me that if its not Czech its a working show dog. I got kind of lost but, I have PM a few experts from this board I know & they have given me a good clear understnading too reality. Thanks all for your Opinions.
If you would like too see the pedigree here it is.
