Hello everyone. I currently have no dogs. I had a 16 month old GSD that I was working in Schutzhund. He is an amazing dog and I put all my time and effort into training him. However, he was taken back from me by the "breeder" because we had a personal dispute (nothing to do with the dog). Me and this lady created a very strong relationship (she was like a second mom to me) and when she had puppies she "gave" me one. Well, me trusting her, I never pushed the issue to officially sign him over to me. Well, now since the dog is still in her name, she got mad at me and took him back. I fought this but in Michigan dogs are considered property so the dog is still considered hers. That left me heartbroken, seeing as that dog was my life. But I realized that I just have to move on. This is my passion and I'm not going to let her stop me, I'm still very young (I just turned 18) and there will be many other opportunities for me in regards to another dog. But I've learned my lesson. Nothing is ever "free" and dont let relationships get in the way of legal issues. I rather pay a good amount of money for a dog, get the papers and not have to play childish games.
Well, I just wanted to introduce myself, and I look forward joining in this forum.
Welcome! Very sorry to hear about that situation. But, think of it this way; there are TONS more dogs in your future! Keep going to your Schutzhund club; don't drop off the face of the earth just because you don't have a dog at the moment. You can still learn and study what others do. Heck, one of the members may even give you the inside line on a decent breeding!
Jim is right! Welcome & sorry about the dog. You can still be of help at your club and when you get your dog, your favor & help will be returned in spades. Our decoy has 3 dogs, 2 pets, 1 is older and he can't do what he wants in the sport until one passes and leaves him room for his prospect, but he is at every practice and works his a$$ off to help the rest. When he get's his dog, I know I will help with as much as I can for him helping me now.
