Hi all. My name is Blake and I thought I would come introduce myself and my puppy, Riley.
He's a 9.5 week old Pembroke Welsh Corgi pup, and a furry little ball of energy. I brought him home at 8 weeks, and although he can be pretty trying at times, I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's being crate trained and just today went into his crate without me having to place him in myself. He's doing well with accidents; has yet to poop inside, and every oops moment can be traced back to my fault (guess I should set an alarm when I fall asleep on the couch after a night of 6 potty outings). We've had some walking/excercise issues, and a LOT of biting, but I just keep telling myself that it's all puppy stuff.
A little bit about me: I'm a 24 single guy from central missouri living alone in an apartment that's about a block from my office where I'm a full time web-designer. I bought Riley from a breeder strictly as a pet so I would have someone to keep me company. Thankfully, my work isn't very restricting, and I have the opportunity to come home every few hours to let him outside and can even work a day or two a week from my home office.
It's a great community here from all I've read and seen, and I'm really happy to be a part of it.
Blake

Hi Blake,
Your pup Riley is adorable! Sounds like you have a good situation with your job and being able to spend lots of time with him.

Oh my gosh, now I want a Corgi. What an absolute doll-baby!!!
Between your Riley, Richard Pryor's Ruy (beagle pup) and Keith Jablonowski's Lucy (another beagle pup), wow, what a wonderful bunch of babies
Oh, and welcome to the forum, Blake
Where's Richard Pryor, by the way? You here Richard?
About the biting (tell me about it!), I understand. Wear gloves if you have to, no joke. Rub some hot dog on a rag or rope, it might give him more incentive to play with it instead of you. But don't hang all your hope on that toy saving you. You'll still be his favorite prey item, until he gains a few weeks/months

I'm gonna say the same thing about Riley that Steven Lepic said about Ted's BB:
Gimme.
As you think, so shall you be. |

My GAAAWWWD! That puppy is cute
I've seen a lot of puppies before, but never a Corgi pup - he's absolutely adorable! *the picture of him laying down on his side just looks like a little plush toy!!
You have lots of sympathy here for those trying puppy days, but do enjoy the little monster, and before you know it, you'll have a gorgeous, well behaved and polite full grown companion who will love you like nothing else.

Blake, welcome to the site. I have to agree with the ladies (always a good idea), he is adorable. The biting will subside, but maybe not as quickly as you would like. Try to redirect as much as possible to a rag or other toy to save your hands and other body parts. Lucy was vicious for the first few months. Rolling her on here back only made her more crazy. Redirecting was the only thing that worked for me. About 6-7 months it stopped completely.
Sandy, Lucy thanks you for the complement. Though she is not so much of a baby anymore. About 11 mths old already and a little over 25lbs, probably won't get any bigger at this point as she is the 13" Beagle, not the larger standard.

Keith, I can't believe she's almost 11 months. I had to look to see your first post was way back in January when she was 4 months. They grow so very fast.
I so miss the early puppy days, which started for me when my Lear bounded out of the crate at the airport, 8.5 weeks old, fuzzy, happy, ready for life, looking for food, no time to pee, too busy exploring....
Blake, enjoy your puppy, bites and all . Puppy behavior may continue for quite a while, but the absolute cuteness that is a baby dog doesn't remain but for a few weeks.

he'sadorable!!
Sometimes I wish I'd have gotten a smaller pup. not very often or much, though.
With how bad people are saying the puppy stage is, I think I might as well be blessed. She's not been a terror for me, other than the week of housebreaking.
But maybe next time around, or when I get a house, a Corgi may be next..
