Does anyone have any ideas for keeping rabbits out of the yard? I live in suburbia and we are infested with them.
In the 4 homes surrounding me, there is only one other home with a dog and I can sit and watch him stare at a rabbit, but be too lazy to chase it. So of course, being the highly intelligent creatures that they are - the rabbits have moved into my yard where my THREE!!! dogs live!
I'm getting mighty sick of picky up dead rabbits and this morning I found a nest right in the dog's potty area, for crap's sake! Doesn't the smell of dog urine tell them to stay away!?!
So does anyone have any dog safe methods for repelling rabbits...(you know aside from the 3 predators that live here).
I have a "critter ridder" I think it's called, it is a motion activated sprinkler that sprays whatever disturbs its motion sensor. I have a cat problem, myself. I'm sure something like this would help for rabbits. You would turn it on at night after the dogs are in. Hope this helps.
The urine of your local predator is supposed to keep them away, fox, wolf, coyote, etc. You can usually find it in it's dehydrated form at your local hardware store in the garden section.
But if they are dumb enough to hang out in a yard with 3 dogs, then that may not do the trick.
Maybe you just need to wait a few rabbit generations for natural selection to weed out the dumb ones (sounds like this is a race of obviously defective prey creatures if they chose the lounge area of your THREE predatory dogs as their nest). Once the dog's have dispatched the idiots, only the "wise" bunnies will be left to breed - but they'll be avoiding YOUR lawn.
well, they in ur yard...just make sure they eat well and u can somewhat ensure or affect the population in a good way so that it stays healthy!
i wish i had rabbits running around all the time..all i have are neighbor's little house dog/terriers that look like fluffy white rabbits running loose and going crazy when i come out with my dogs...
