I'm interested in purchasing some of the Ultra balls that Ed sells (sold to fit with the ChuckIt). The description says that they're durable, but are they VERY durable? Carbon is quite the strong chewer. I had to put the ChuckIt away, because even with normal fetch, Carbon would shred the tennis ball in one or two sessions so that made the risks with tennis balls even higher for me. I'd like to get the ChuckIt out of retirement, though, and save my shoulder...so these balls sound like a good deal.
Orbee balls do last with him, so are they at least that tough? Anyone with strong chewers have experience with these balls?
Thanks!

Consider them endorsed. I use them with my Chuck-it. They seem to be a bit tougher grade of plastic than the Orbee balls. So far, they wear well.
I don't give the dogs time to chew on them, so it's not a real test of durability. They surrender them at the end of the play session -- they are 'my' toys and only come out for that exercise. Nikki will sometimes just sit and stare at the counter where I keep them.
I like them better than the tennis balls. I can quickly rinse all the dog spit from them. They don't wear the teeth like the tennis balls. The orange color makes them easier for me to find in the grass. The seem to have enough heft to them that the dog doesn't get chewy
Puppy really likes them. I have one of those sports radar guns. Clocked her at 28mph going out after the ball and 24mph coming back. When she gets a bit older, the long bite may be interesting. Right now, recall is interesting enough. ;D

Those balls worked good with my chewer. However, if you want a great long lasting ball, find a good solid rubber ball. I know Kong makes one, but I got mine from Jeffers Pet Supply. The balls are the size of a tennis ball or maybe a little larger, and they are awesome. They last, and last, and last. I have some that are at least 2 years old and as good as new - the only wear I can see is a few teeth marks.

I've tried these, and he's not a big fan. He likes being able to bite down with them, like he can with the Orbees and the Cuz's. Also, those rubber balls are pretty hard! Getting hit with one sucks (long story)!

Carbs doesn't get to keep the balls, either. But even so, he gives them some good chomps when he grabs them and can really tear up the more delicate balls in no time.
The orange color appeals to me, too. We do a lot of work at dusk in the summer, and I figure they'll help my poor human eyes find them.
I like that they're smaller than Orbees, too. That way my poor Corgi stands a chance at getting his jaws around them when it's his turn to romp.

I got a pir of these about 2 weeks ago, they have lasted well- because the dog doesn't like really them. Just to give some comparison, she also doesn't like the orbee ball but loves tennis balls and racquet balls. The ultra balls are a different kind of rubber from all of the above. She is a very strong chewer, will chomp a tennis ball to bits on the retrieve, but has been chewing on the ultra ball hard for 15 min now and there isn't so much as a tooth mark on it.
Hope this helps!

I will say that my dogs do not get to "keep" them either....but my Mal loves squishing them so she gets the ball in her crate for about 10 minutes while she is in the house........I think she likes the feeling on her gums since she lays her head to one side and just squishes away.....and then rotates to the other side.
These balls are the only ones besides Orbees that I have found that stick up to that kind of "torture" and stay in one piece.....I wish they made them in a bigger size though....that would be great for the lab.......

LOVE THEM, LOVE THEM, LOVE THEM!!
(and the dogs like them too!)
My only complaint is that the small blue piece on the side starts to detach from the ball with my mega-chewer, but I just peel it off - no big deal.
I also don't let the dogs have them all the time. It is their special treat to play with. They know that when we take a run in the yard and I get them out, they are in for some fun!

Very true! Those rubber balls became the favorite toy of the little boy I was a nanny for. They had to disappear when his arm got stronger and little brother came along...
My dog is a big time chewer and she actually chews on those balls - I think she likes something she can really chomp down on!
For night time play you may want to check out a glow-in-the dark tee ball - same size as a baseball but is made of rubber and has a hollow core. And they do have a bit more "give" than those solid rubber balls!
