Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I find the search engine on this forum difficult to really find what you are looking for.
My 16 week pup has begun teething - and I'd like advice on good, safe chewy toys, etc. for him. I'm a little gun-shy about rawhide and the like, but would like to hear about what y'all have used to keep your teething puppies happy while they go through this transition.
Cow hooves are dangerous. They can splinter and cause intestinal or stomach perforations. I would stay away from those unless you have a very tiny dog that won't be able to break them.
My pup's favorite by far were bully sticks. Also, I like to use raw bones, like those mentioned. I used frozen washcloths and kongs stuffed with frozen peanut butter.

My dog also loves bully sticks. And he learned about ice cubes because our dispenser throws them out and one always seems to hit the floor. He will come running when he hears the dispenser and just loves the ice. I tried carrots, wouldn't touch them. Knuckle bones are his favorite thing on earth. I give an occasional pig ear, although I am not sure how safe they really are. I have heard mixed opinions. My vet said take my cue from my dog. If he eats them and has no stomach upset or other problems, an occasional one is OK for him.
My boy is about the same age as your boy and he loves the canvas type of toy. I think one is called a Wubba and the other one is supposed to be covered with a fire hose type of canvas. They are both very sturdy and stand up well to his chewing and playing tuggy with them. I like them as well as they last a long time.
I also have your basic stuffy toys and rope toys in the house and heavier duty squeeky toys that look like dumbbells out in the yard. Those I can throw to play fetch with and they don't get icky being outside.
Oh, I forgot. I have an Orbee kong that he loves and he takes it in and out of the house.
