What to do when you run out of beef?

Just wondering what members feed when they run out of beef? I'm getting very low on it (still have plenty of RMBs) and I've been searching for specials for the last 4 days with no luck. I usually feed ground beef, but it's too expensive! I can't find any good deals. I tried the meat shavings, but my dog kept getting sick. How long can I just keep feeding chicken? with the occasional canned mackerel? With supplements of course.

I feed lamb, beef, venison, turkey, chicken, pork, buffalo, fish. I feed many different kinds of meats to very my protein sources. If you are looking for bargains, maybe go ahead and buy any meat that's on sale instead of just beef.

Me too Susan,I feed pork , lamb shoulders are alwasy on sale it seems,turkey, rabbit,buffalo,beef,chicken and more... see whats on sale Alex and try it ( your pooch that is) Variety is the key!!

I rotate protein sources similar to Angelique and Susan -- this time of year Ellie seems to prefer fish in addition to rabbit and beef.
But Alex, in answer to your OP, at times when I don't have something thawed in enough time I have fed a meal or two of tripe.

If you have plenty of RMBs left, it sounds to me like you are looking for different muscle meat. Instead of hamburger, try beef hearts, chicken gizzards and hearts, cheap-cut pork roast chunked into pieces. Also, if your chicken RMBs have enough meat on them (leg quarters, meaty backs, etc.), they should be fine alone.
Check with your local butcher or even WalMarts if you have one. They sell beef hearts very cheap and in bulk, and any grocery store sells chicken gizzards and hearts at a reasonable price. I buy everything on sale in large quantities and then freeze it.
Wait until hamburger goes on sale and then stock up on that, or even ground turkey.

WalMart just changed their beef hearts from 3-lb shrink-wrapped packages to ridiculous 1-lb lots in plastic tubs 3 times the size of the contents. Made me check with my local butcher, who is getting me a 60-lb case for $.99/lb, a good 20-25% less than WalMart. I'm going to pick it up later today, so I don't know what the interior packaging is but it can't be anything like the plastic tubs, if it's to fit in their case box (I know what size those are).
Now the only question is where do I put 60 pounds of beef heart?

I used to buy beef hearts from the butcher too, but they came 3 to a box, which equalled 60 lbs.! It was the whole heart, and I'll tell you, that was a PAIN to cut up.
That's why I liked WalMarts - they were pre-cut in strips, all ready for freezing.
Thanks for the tip though; I'll have to check it out.
I know it's been very hard lately to get turkey necks there too.

Thanks all. I will look at Walmart. I've gone to a few different grocery stores, but paying anything over $1.49/lb doesn't make sense to me. I was getting the ground beef rolls that were coming up on the "best if used by" date and paying $1.15/lb. Chicken hearts are about $1.39/lb, but that's an organ meat right? I'd still have to supplement a muscle meat. My aunt has a farm and they've given me lot's of Yak meat, but they don't have any now or maybe for a while.

Hearts are muscles, not organs.
Beef hearts and chicken gizzards and hearts are the staples of my muscle meat.
