Is there any breedds that have medium to shortcoats (german shepard is to long) ttha can live outside as a guard dog?its for land protection.
You don't say where you are located. Exactly how cold/hot does it get where you are? I personally consider German Shepherds to have a medium coat, so you would need a dog with a really short, slick coat if you want shorter hair than a GSD. It would help us to make suggestions if we knew what sort of temperatures are where you live and the sort of terrain.
English or Bull Mastiff. Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. Pitt Bull. An insulated dog house would be a good idea.
Sorry, but I couldn't disagree with your Pitt Bull suggestion more, for land guarding. And Greater Swiss Mountain dogs have about the same length hair as a GSD.
I might have said it wrongly, when i bought the house i stayed in it one day and in that one day 2 ppl came and tryed to break into the house, and when i got there that day windows were broken and all that. Its on alot of land so ppl really had to drive a few acres to get near the house. I would like a dog that can deter ppl from coming, and also STOP ppl from coming. i say short coat becuase for the first few months it would be living inside untill its older and my wife hates dogs thta shed alot liek german sheperds ASD's. I really like Doberman, but i heard that they are very depressed dogs if there outside, can someone please fill me in on that? i like dogue de bordeaux but it is alot of land and im not sure a dog that big is agile enough to run accros it as much as a Doberman. Is there anyway a dob can work in this situation?
I would be willing to buy or create a huge inclosure like a garage with a dog door were the dob can be at night and gt out easy but can stay cold or warm in ther depending on the season
Let me see if I am understanding you correctly.
You want a short haired, non shedding dog.
You want this dog to have free run of a large, several acre property, while having an outside shelter near your home.
You want this dog to deter and/or attack trespassers on your property on it's own, without your supervision?
