My Lab, True, was in the front yard with my BF when my BF heard someone softly whistling and saying "Here boy...Come here". He noticed True looking off in the direction of the noise so as he bent down to put a hand on True he sees this strange car sitting in the street.
Our property is heavily wooded in front so obviously this jerk did not see my BF when he was calling my dog because the car took off the moment my BF bent down and was visible from the street.
I have to say I'm really proud of my dog. He didn't move towards the noise and stayed in a sit right at my BF's side.
We are pretty disturbed by this and it's a good wake up call. We live on a dead end street in the country and we know all the neighbors so we never worried too much about traffic or strangers. The thought of might have happened makes me feel absolutely ill.

Oh wow, that's too close for comfort. Even though I know it would be the wrong thing to do, don't you just wish your BF could have snuck up on the SOB & beat the living snot out of him?
Thank goodness True didn't go over to him and that your BF was outside at that time. Can your BF identify the car in case that guy comes back? If so, I would make a point of telling your neighbors to keep an eye out in case a strange car shows up on your road again. Someone like that could be a threat to small children as well.

He certainly would have jumped in his car and taken off after the guy if True hadn't been with him.
Funny story: He found himself behind a drunk driver one evening so he calls the cops on his cell and follows the guy for miles. Drunk driver is trying to shake the big truck relentlessly following him and the cops remain on the line getting updates on their location, trying to get an officer out to them. They get near town and the cop who is talking to my BF suddenly starts laughing. The drunk driver called the cops and said he was being followed by a "maniac"! At the urging of the cops, the driver then pulls into the nearest police station, where he is busted!
I have worried about those times that I have left the pup out on the Tie Up, but since my pup has such bad manners, I figure a thief would get all jumped over and muddy before he ever got my pup unhooked.
But most of the time he ends up inside in his crate, as he and I both seem to prefer that option.
