Not sure how this can pass as a training question… maybe someone can think of a way.
I’ve had 5 dogs throughout my life, and all of them have had nicknames. My current dog even has a last name! All of them responded to both their actual names AND their nicknames. I thought maybe I was a little insane, but I remember my ex-g.friend had 10 dogs and most had nicknames. Is this a cultural thing or do you nickname your dogs as well?
I won’t mention the nicknames here because some of them are in Spanish and others I don’t even know how to write!

ALL of my dogs have nicknames:
Jesea: "my little mali girl OR OUCH ya bitch"
Max: "get over here dumba** OR here ya old hound"
Marley: "that black ba*t*rd (when he shews up my stuff) OR come on stupid (because if it ain't birds he doesn't get it due to being so hyper"
Jiggs: "STOP (he is constantly moving"
Koda: "babe (because she has not done anything to get a better one yet"
Rock: "rockmiester, rockamania, rocko"
All of these are said with love and affection and never yelled at the dogs.....I just figured I would be completely honest with what I say to them......
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
I wouldn't say Bayley has nicknames, but variations of her name. She knows them all and will come to them. Same with my cats, they all have many names. I'll call Bayley Baylor Bdog Bonehead. I think because they all sound alike she comes to them. My one cat's registered name is Big Bro but he's always been called Bobee. Baxter is Baxie and Coco Bean is usually Mr Bean
