I can't help you with the bottling department but I do know that the things that they are taught by their mothers are invaluable. The basis for stifling aggressive behaviors come primarily from the other puppies and the mother. Is there only one pup? Any idea why she rejected him? Best case scenario would be to get the mother to accept the pup or to at least have him in with the rest of the litter as much as possible so that he can learn manners from his littermates. The rest you will have to get answers from the more knowledgeable people on the forum. Good luck.

I don't know how many people read all the topics, this forum is HUGE. You might want to have this post moved to Breeding and Whelping.
*you need to scroll WAY down to get there*

Keith, I think most people go to the Active Topics page and read the new stuff, so regardless of what section it's in, it will still be visible without having to hunt for it.

Stephanie, read this article by Ed Frawley http://www.leerburg.com/bottlefeeding.htm
He writes about how to feed an orphaned pup and what to feed it, weaning puppies (starting at about 4 weeks), but several other things that will help you raise this puppy. Keep the pup warm, give it a stuffed toy to sleep with and at this point I wouldn't try to make the mom accept the pup. I also wouldn't leave the pup alone with the mom at any time.

The puppy still needs to learn about being a dog.
This last weekend I had the occassion to see a single new born (a kind of rarity), no litter mates to huddle with, no one to play with, no one to compete with. This owner has the most open system I have ever seen; perhaps 7 or 8 dogs, large fenced area, around the house, the lenght of the barn and indoor horse ring, and an isolated kennel or two, but for the most part the dogs are mixed together and decide their own pack order, she feeds raw, and works hard with them (in fact I think she lives for them) (my kind of person!). Back to the topic, she is conserned about this lonesome pup, the mother cares for her well, feeds her, tends to her sanitary needs, in short does all the motherly things, except for peer companionship (which she can't do of course). It may work out but if owner had a choice the option would be to have another known litter to have the pup grow up with. If the lone rangess was mine I'd feel the same way.
So back to the beginning, the dog needs more than food, water and love. Try to find a peer/s, so it can learn to be a dog and fulfill it's destiny.
The journey is it's own reward,
Randy
