I have a client who recently changed her dog's diet to an all natural, raw ration. Since then the dog has had increased discharge from both eyes. Her vet insists it is related to the diet. Has anyone had a similr experience?

When I had done raw, it was basically regarded as coming from Detox which if I remember right can last a couple wks. If I'm wrong about the time, I'm sure someone will pipe in
my dog has had some minor watery eye discharge on and off since he was a puppy. he's been looked at by 3 vets and they've all attributed it to over-active tear ducts or possibly an airborn allergy of some kind since it comes and goes.
it's gotten better as he's gotten older.
i switched him to raw almost a year ago, and i noticed an increase then, as well. I attributed it to the increased excitement over his new food and the increased chewing action of the rmb's which he loves.
after all, there was an increase in the discharge of a watery substance from his mouth, too, while he sits and waits for the OK to eat...
What type of discharge? As Angela stated, it could be from the dog experiencing de-tox. This may last up to a month. Like Chris, my dog also can have the 'clear' tears. I add organic apple cider vinegar to her food and this stops her from tearing. When I forget, she will tear again.
Chris, you should try this and let me know if it works with your dog. I read about this somewhere and tried it, really does work!
My 4 mo. old pup has a lot of discharge at times too. It is usually clear. I always thought it was from leaving him behind when I go to work each day!
The discharge has been occuring for over a month. It is basically clear but there is quite an accumulation daily, and the eyes do not apear to be otherwise inflamed.I will recommend introducing apple cider vinegar to see if it helps clear up the problem. Do you have any idea about why (what the biochemical/nutritional mechanism is) that would account for an improvement? Thanks to all for your input so far.
