I've triend the Innotek 300 with no response from my dog, so I returned it and upgraded to the Innotek 1000 and still no response from the dog even at max setting! I'm thinking there's no way I got a defective collar, try it out, and sure enough it zaps and works fine. However when I put it on the dog... nothing.
My friend accidentally touches the button on the remote set at 10 while the dog was stretching, all of a sudden the poor thing jumps 3 feet up in the air and does the "what just happened to me" face. So now I know he's not THAT insensitive and it's gotta be the way the collar sits on his neck.
However I can't seem to get the collar on him so that it works. I'm not sure if it's a question of the length of contacts?? I have the collar on him very tight and it doesn't move. He does have a lot of skin and I'm wondering if all the skin folds push the collar out of contact some how? He's a big flobby Cane Corso, just over 100lbs.

My experiance with e-collars is that the 2 prongs can cause different/higher levels of stim at the same level. It really all depends on where the prongs are touching, its very touch and go. I have held the collar on my own neck with level one stim and felt a mild tingle. I had proper contact on my neck, but since the two prongs did not touch my twitch nerves, I received no twitch. I moved the collar 1/4 inch to the right and received a heavy muscle twitch from my neck up the side of my face to my ear, on the same exact stim level. There is a drastic difference, I am hoping this will help out.

I'm wondering if the prongs aren't long enough?? I've had the collar on him in different locations around his neck, both rotation wise and up and down. I could be standing on the continuous button with the collar set at the max stym of 15 and absolutey nothing happens...
This is really really frustrating. He also has so much flobby skin on him it's hard to keep the collar steady and in place.. not that I have even found a good location for it to begin with.
How on earth can I make this thing work?

Do you have the prong positioned directly under his jaw? Did the collar come with a tester for the prongs and if so have you tested them?

Not sure, but take your time. Maybe try and get the prongs inside one of the skin folds or position the collar up high, right under the jaw. I also had someone tell me to position the collar off to the side a bit. They do sell conductive gel for the collars also.

ok, so last night I fully charged the collar and tested it with the little light bulb gadget. The collar works perfectly, just not on the dog. I tried an experiment. I wet his neck where the collar sits hoping for some improved conductivity. Eureeka!!! I am now getting fantastic responses! Not only is he responding very well, he is doing it with a setting as low as 2!
I'm glad I finally have the collar working on him. It was a little frustrated seeing him wear a $350 collar that didn't even have a leash ring! Talk about a rip off :P
I'm suprised however to be getting responses from him on such a low setting. Does the water multiply the current some how? Personally, I couldn't even feel a 2 on myself.
Obviously water dries with time so this is not a permanent solution, but at least I have confirmed that the issue is lack of contact, not the collar itself or it's position or the tightness of the strap. What else can I do to deal with this conductivity problem?

Thanks Paige.. Have you had any experience with this gel? I've never even seen it being sold.

Marta,
Now that you've solved the problem of it being a correct contact setting and found out that water helps with the conductivity of electricity just use it for a while until the gel comes in. I haven't ever had to use gel myself but I'm sure it won't dry up as fast as water. I would also make sure that I test that collar on the dog for correct contact every time I put it on.
Another thing I would try is to wiggle the collar into it's spot once you have the collar at the correct tightness. This helps to seat the contact points against the skin. You know that setting 2 works for your dog so you also now have a starting point. Good luck.

Hello all,
Does anyone know where I can get the conductive gel? I seem to be having the same problem as Marta with the same breed of dog, same age too. I do think the pain tolerance for this breed is very high also. I was thinking of getting that add on contact pad but not sure.
thanks in advance for anyones help.
