EU bans giving bones to dog owners

Butchers are being threatened with fines if they give bones away to dog owners.
They are being sent letters telling them that a new European directive bans the traditional practice.
In future, Britain's 10,000 butchers will have to pay for the bones to be incinerated rather than hand them free to customers for their pets.
I think I discussed my proposed method of dealing with this type of busy-body legislation in another thread a long time ago on this board. It goes something like this:
1. Those who propose legislation that restricts some fundamental and simple right, especially in a capricious or paternalistic way,
2. Should be smacked upon the chops. Twice. First, as an attention-getter. Then, smacked again. This is the "confirmation shot." Between smacks one and two, the rule must be re-proposed by its proponent. Acceptance of the second smack shall constitute full and knowing endorsement of, and acceptance of responsibility for, the rule.
I think this would do alot to curb the constant yabbering of people who think there needs to be a rule for everything.
Yes, I am willing to take my two smacks to get this rule passed.
My posts reflect my own opinions, and not those of the Marine Corps or the United States.
That's nothing...the other day I was out for my regular morning jog listening to radio and heard that there was a proposal in Austria to ban prong collars and e-collars. I think today they're passing part of the new "animal protection laws", but I don't think it includes the clause on collars. Granted, this isn't the whole EU, but Austria is still part of it. I love US!
Guys,
no American political comments, there are websites dedicated to those. Go there if you feel the need. This forum is about dog training. A comment about what a Standing American President *might* do is BS, and doesn't belong here.
Comments about the American political scene that don't affect dog training will get a topic locked, or deleted. And if a poster continues with that type of behavior, Ed will ban him in a flash - which he's done before.
Be warned.
