Hello all, my name is Frank and Im new to this forum and site. I recently had to put down my female GSD, my best friend of 8 years due to cancer. I also had a male GSD that was going nuts without his girl so I decided to get another puppy female GSD. I did way more research this time on health issues, tempermant and other key issues I had learned from my first couple GSD's. I'm really excited to correct my short comings in my early years of GSD ownership. For one super good socialization is my priority since my Keyla was difficult to bring into public because of her lack of socialization early in her life. I've been bringing the new puppy down town 3-4 times a week and going into the pets stores. Also having family dogs over to visit. Also daily training has been going well. At only 4 1/2 months old Im trying to take it a little slow but I cant wait til my dvds get here so I know where I need to be in the process. Anyway Im excited to be here and I look forward to going and reading all the past threads to help teach me more.

Hi, Frank, and WELCOME.
You can get your pup off to a good start with minimal vaccinations and an excellent diet.
I believe that both vaccinosis and grain-heavy diets can be cancer precursors.
We didn't have this wealth of information when your 8-year-old was young, but now we have this kind of very helpful information and can start pups off with the healthiest immune system possible.
I love what you wrote about Keyla on your 10/11 blog. I sure identify with how you feel about losing her, it's very difficult. I'm sorry for your loss.
Welcome to the forum, to you and both your GSDs. And thanks for your service to our country.
