I was looking for a new GSD pup, as my previous one (imported by a pet shop from Czech Rep.) had previously died at 3 months from a heart attack (confirmed after an autopsy). Then my colluege showed me an ad of a 2 yr old GSD for sale so I decided to check it out. The previous owner was selling him because he had recently bought a rott pup and the GSD (Basco) could not get along with the pup. When I saw how fast the dog could catch a ball, I was hooked. I bought the dog the next day.
I tracked down the breeders in Holland. They told me that he was an accident when they moved from one farm to another and that he came from a working line (grandfather from fathers side had titles: IPO2/SCH3). Although this isn't necesarily a guarentee for success in training Basco I was pleased with the news.
So I had a dog, the next step was searching for an alternative way of training Basco (because there are few or no trainers here)so I searched on the Net. I was impressed with the answers of Ed to the questions so I decided to buy some dvds and training material. I do not know a lot of training but I do know this: this is the best integrated site for info, dvds, materials (best quality) and training questions, a customer would be crazy to go somewhere else. The DVDs and materials bought so far are well worth the prices (including the shipping costs and import duties)
I am planning to train my dog in protection (I am still building DF&G with Berhnard Flinks though) and my biggest challenge will be finding a helper, like John Miller said because I a cannot use a family member. Although .....I can use my husband and throw him out of the house afterwards (joke!) Or maybe an ex-boyfriend?
Forgive me if I ask a lot of questions, but I love to learn not only about training but about other dogs here as well.
So this is Basco: " alt="an image" />
And this is me:

By the way I had to use my first name in order to be registered but I always use my second name Rose, which is short for Rosalinda.
Basco is GORGEOUS!! The white sand and turquoise water do make for a beautiful photo too... I'm so jealous
He seems to really be enjoying all the drive & focus work that you're doing with him (from your sig pictures). I agree with you, the DVDs from this site are amazing.
I'm sure you'll do a great job with him.
