I took jewel to e-vet today. She has been having water downed stool. It looks like she is peeing out of her bottom. Well it is some virus going around here in southern Texas. But in a 2 month old puppy it takes a tole. Also she is vomiting. Well they had to give her a shot to stop the vomiting. She has to take 3 different types of med also. Has to go back on Friday. Any suggestions on what to give her. She eats canidea all natural dog food. But she does not want to eat that any suggestions. I have had more problems in the past few weeks then I have had in 9 months with phoenix. Am I doing something wrong. I try so hard to do right the harder I try the more goes wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also she is still drinking water.

Just to add any one in Texas this is not just one area. It is being reported in many county's. Watch your dogs and puppy's please it comes fast very fast. And is hard to treat and expensive.

Exactly what was the diagnosis and the meds?

I am so sorry to hear about your puppy being sick; I know it is so disheartening when you’re trying so hard to do the right thing. Did the vet give you any recommendations on what to feed her? Sure hope she gets better soon and glad that Bear doesn’t appear to have it.
Take Care,

He said wet food. But I can not find it in what I feed her. Do y'all think it is ok to just give something for a day or two. He said that wet food would rehydrate her and put weight on her. I just want her to be ok. So just some info would help.
Question: Can I give her pedigree or something for a few days?

No, I wouldn’t give her pedigree. I’m sure others will advise you also but I would go with boiled chicken breast and white rice. Boil the chicken first then remove it and cook your rice in the chicken broth, you want the rice to be well cooked so it’s like a mush.

I would not feed her tonight, or if you already have, let her skip breakfast and give her stomach a rest.
I like to use overcooked white rice and some boiled skinless white chicken breast. Just about a half to 3/4 of a cup at a meal since your dog is smaller. This works great for dogs with upset stomachs, IMHO.
And access to plenty of fresh water.
You could try a bit of canned pumpkin (plain, not pie filling) to help her with diarrhea.

Hi there Stephanie. I'm just back on Leerburg after a few months away, so I'm not familiar with everything you've written about your pup...bear that in mind, if something I say seems out of place.
Enteritis is the term used to describe an inflammation or infection of the small intestine. It can be caused by bacteria or by a virus or something else. *It doesnt imply a cause*. A cause is not implied by the diagnosis of colitis, either, which describes an inflammation of the colon. The cause may be general stress, bacteria, parasites, or some unknown cause. Have they done any fecal or blood tests to determine the CAUSE yet? I ask because if it's something that's environmental---could be a number of things---you should know so you can eliminate this exposure, if possible.
You said "some virus" is going around in Texas. What virus, and have they tested for it? This is important, IMO.
At any rate, IN GENERAL, it's a good idea to fast a dog briefly (for a day or two) and just provide fluids, baited if necessary. Then, I would take a pot of water, boil some non-fat chicken breast and some white rice. Give ALL of this (the chicken, the rice and the water) to to the dog for a few days to a week and see if you have any results. This is easy for the dog to digest, and it will provide nutrients, protein and fluids and it will help stop the liquid stools. I have done this many times---it has worked every time. And I've had some BAD bouts with my GSD.
Plain canned pumpkin also has good binding qualities, but with issues as severe as you're describing with your dog, I would personally go for the boiled chix and rice and broth diet for awhile. You really don't want the dog dehydrating or dropping too much weight, and this diet is great for preventing both.
What do you mean by an e-vet? Is this a vet that gives advice online? While that might be helpful for you, it is no substitute for taking in a stool sample and having a vet examine your dog. If I misunderstood you, I apologize...but just in case--you do want a real person to examine your dog both in full form and under a microscope.
I wish you luck, and I hope you'll post back with updates. I really understand the worry you must be having. Please keep us posted.

Maybe, but your post was MUCH more interesting.
And Stephanie, you are not doing anything wrong. You are taking care of your pet that is sick from something beyond your control.
You are to be commended for caring for all of your pets the way you do. Good Job!!! Keep up the good work.
