Hi,
About how much canned pumpkin would be approriate to add to my dogs food for pudding type stool?
She had soft stool yesterday, stool was negative for parasites. I fed her cooked rice/hamburger last night and this morning....her stool is solid but not hard.
Just wondering how much canned pumpkin is added?
I was going to use icecube tray to freeze what is left over, into cube sized "doses" and keep them in the freezer to use as needed....(since I opened a big can today)

Linda, refresh my memory on the size of your dog......
Also, is it pudding stool, or is it formed? If it is formed, I would not mess with it as pumpkin is dual purpose....it may also constipate her if she has already formed stool.
Rice is great, although I would use boiled skinless white breast of chicken. Even the leaner ground beef is to greasy IMO.
If your dog is a larger breed, the ice cube tray would be a good idea. Just wrap the tray in plastic wrap as pumpkin can freezer burn if left uncovered.
I always start with a bit of pumpkin at first and give more if needed. Usually two TBSP for my hound and one for the others to start with.

If she has an upset tummy, I would give the pumpkin mixed in some rice or rice and chicken for the first few meals, once her stools are normal I would finish up the rice/chicken and then start with small regular meals and see what happens.
You should only have to give her pumpkin once or twice.......

Excellent....Thanks Carol....thats about what my game plan was for her.
She is still full of "piss and vinegar" I can't seem to tire her out! So I know she is feeling well
