I have a question about how a prong collar should fit on my dog. I know that it should sit up high on the dogs neck where the head meets the neck but I'm wondering if mine is too tight. It gives him some slight pressure just by wearing it and once its on I can't really turn it with out taking it off and adjusting it. If I put another link in it tend to slide down his neck. What do you think?
It should be snug, so there will be some pressure when it's on. You won't be able to turn it to adjust it once it's on without taking it off, so it seems you have the right fit. If adding another link makes it go too far down the neck, it's too big.
That's one of the reasons why I like the quick-release prongs. You can make slight adjustments in the fit because there's a chain that the clasp gets attached to, and the links on the chain are smaller than the prong links.
