Bunny-hopping is the action of the hind legs working together to push off simulataneously, instead of each leg working independently. Almost ALL pups bunny hop at times, and especially when they are accelerating from a standstill to running - they will piston with both hind legs together to get up to speed, but if a pup tends to bunny hop a lot, it sometimes indicates some discomfort in the hips.
i have a female gsd from german showline(Noah v. Nobachtal vs Inka von der Thujenhecke) and when at home she hops quite a bit. When training for the shows she walks and trots normally. I have a preview xray for hip dysplasia and everything is perfect and indicates that she will be completely normal. This bunny hop always indicates some problems in the hips or there can be any other cause for this?
