As we near Christmas and the hectic weekend getting ready, I find myself going over what I need to do for my dogs.
I have pre-packaged meals so that I can make sure they get all they need while I am pulling my hair out doing last minute things.
Made some special pumpkin-venison treats, bought a nice big buffalo roast for Christmas day since that is one of their favorites and just in general have been neglecting my house work (that is Sunday) and spending a little extra time with them, as I know Monday and Tuesday they are going to be pretty much in kennels with little interaction from me as I will have family here and will be cooking and tipping a little Holiday cheer.
Meals now are prepared with a little extra care and time with me in the office and the house is a little more.
I type this just as a reminder that these are extended "family" members so to speak and they give us their all, so please make sure to do something extra special for them while you are busy making it extra special for all the humans in your lives as well.
Make sure they cannot "eat" the ribbons, lights, decorations, and tinsel off of the tree. (speaking from experience, tinsel is taboo in my house )
And make sure on Monday and Tuesday to give them a extra 5 minutes of lovin' before (and if) they are to be put up while you enjoy the festivities.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone. This forum and the members are special to me so my wish for you all to have a Joyous Christmas and Happy New Year is just as big as the one I have for all the people in my life that I see everyday.

And PLEASE don't put gifts of chocolate under the tree or anywhere else reachable. It's a smell than dogs can sniff out from three rooms away, unfortunately.

Great reminder Carol! Boy do our dogs EVER deserve to celebrate and be loved during this special season - they are so very deserving.
I'm fortunate to only have one dog and a family who likes having him in on the action - so he won't be missing out on much attention while we unwrap gifts and play with new gifts. But I will be getting him a little something special for x-mas dinner, and he has some presents to open too...
Happy Holidays!

Carol got me all sentimental..... . My Christmas gift to my Lear, besides a Cornish Hen and a backpack, will be a deepening commitment to his needs and a promise to try to look as professional on the field during bitework as he does .
I love my dog so much. He's added so much to my life, including his love and companionship.
Merry Christmas to all your wonderful dogs. May they be healthy and happy and safe.

Dogs deserve gifts for sure. My Dobe got a Christmas bonus of a new faux sheepskin bed and a hemp collar from my boss (he goes to work with me) and a new toy from me. My Greyhound had his tonails painted by my daughter (insulated pink polish )and got a new coat to keep his little body warm. They'll get more when I use all the LB gift certificates I scored this year. It pays to be shameless . My pups are the best friends I could ask for; they keep me happy so I like to do the same.
Merry Christmas!!!!!
