With Cindy Easton Rhodes permission :
Below is a crosspost from another board.
Let's see if we can make this little guys Christmas a Merry one.....
(if you have trouble with the link let me know.)
Got this off one of the Malinois list serves I'm on...apparently this 5 month old pup from West Virginia will be put to sleep on Christmas Eve so the shelter staff doesn't have to come in on Christmas Day. Great. Nice red pup:

Contact the shelter ASAP if interested. Malinois Rescue can also pull and arrange transport.

".... so the shelter staff doesn't have to come in on Christmas Day. Great."
Just one quick note from the POV of a shelter volunteer: Nothing about putting down healthy unwanted dogs is the fault of the poor people who have to deal with it at the shelter, over and over, and who do it with hearts breaking and tears in their eyes, who make gestures like taking a dog who is "scheduled" out to eat so they can do something, anything, to feel better about a situation they had no share in creating, generally coming in free (so a shelter can keep operating), and trying to be upbeat so they don't scare the dog who is about to die.
If there is a villain in the second paragraph, it is not the shelter people.

Honestly, if I lived anywhere near there I'd take that dog to foster for several months at least.
Should I bother calling? I'm sure the shelter wouldn't be willing to do shipping, even if the expense to ship was covered.
*sigh*

They are closed right now. I just called.
I was trying to confirm a rumor I just read that this particular pup was now safe ..... I do NOT know if it's correct, but I am trying to find out.

David,
If only they had a foster home, Malinois Rescue would handle the transport. In rescue speak: "pull" means a volunteer goes to the shelter, picks up the dog and handles the paperwork. "transport" means, obviously, move the dog from shelter to foster home (usually covered by donations or done by volunteers).
Oh! I hope this dog is OK. I love mals, but I'm over my limit in dogs
WV is where the dog in my sig came from.

David - no, I'm involved in Catahoula Rescue. But - most rescues work the same way.
The original post indicates that Mal Rescue will help this dog. The distance they would be willing to transport would depend on their resources. I've had fosters from what seemed like impossible distances - it depends on the volunteers.

There's someone on the forum who takes in dogs, I don't know about puppies, and train them in various service areas. I'm twisting my brain trying to remember his name or the name of his organization. He's posted about it before.
Anyone remember?
If David is willing to foster this pup, that would be great. Maybe even foster him until that guy's organization gets to take a look at him.
