Hi,
My dog, Buck (named after that famous guy in Call of the Wild), and I are new to the forum. Buck has a big long fancy German name, but neither of us can ever remember it without looking it up! This GSD is my first dog since childhood; I've always been a cat person. We're learning together!
We live in a log cabin on 50 wooded acres in Ohio. Consequently Buck has lots of distractions daily: deer, wild turkey, neighboring cattle & horses and a variety of other creatures, but fortunately few cars or crazy people & ill mannered dogs.
Buck loves his woods, but has a lot to learn. Course, so does mom! She's a librarian and a jewelry maker so she does lots of research..and now she's learning how to take care of her Buck.
Here we are celebrating our birthdays in Sept. at the Outer Banks--he just turned 1 yr. I got him at 6mos. He's not a working dog--although I think he would love to be if only mom had more time--but he has a job to do--to keep me safe and my job is to keep him safe!! And besides that, we hope to learn about obedience and tracking as well--but that's all part of the fun!
We're hoping to learn a lot from other folks on this forum to help us with our jobs.

His job is to keep you safe, be obedient, and track? Hmm...sounds like a Schutzhund dog in the making!
