Okay, I don't know about this one...the last few days my hubby and my son have been commenting on my female and her nasty new smell. They say "things" are smelling "fishy". I've noticed something too but wasn't sure what it was. Any ideas what might be causing this smell? The other dogs have been taking special care to do an awful lot more sniffing so I know we aren't imagining.

She needs a vet visit.
Bacterial vaginosis is one possibility.
So is anal glands needing expressing.
So is a sort of combination: The dog licking at the blown anal glands and then spreasding the bacteria across the vulva.

Is it possible she rolled in something fishy or dead? Our dog when I was a kid thought salmon carcasses were cologne. If after a bath the odor is still there and you can't identify which part of your dog it's coming from I agree with Connie. Time for a go to the vet.
Hi, My female Wheaten Terrier has this same smell. Its the result of a clogged/filled anal gland. warm water in the tub and a good squeezing and it clears for a month or two.

Yes, that might well be all it is. That can start a sequence of events that ends up with a vaginal infection, though.
Always wondered when I was going to have to spew some anal juices from the glandulars, lmbo!!!!
Heres another possibility??? Bandit has an ear infection.. constantly scratches...licks the goo from his toenails then licks her??? Yeast infection/bacterial infection??? Looks like we are all going to the vet this week. Geez. Fun fun!
Should I try the bath and squeeze first? Bandit is going no matter what but should I try that on her before spending the $$ on the vet?
