HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!
Today is the first day of what I wish will be a great new year for all of you and your dogs.
My day began with a 5:30 am session with Ember, running around outside with the bite rag and working on the "heir" command. She is a bit independent.
6:00 found me trudging through the snow playing Chuck-It with the Lab.
6:45 was Chuck-It with Rock.
Came in, made coffee and watched some animated movie about animals stealing food for a grumpy old bear.....
Spent some surf time and now I am on my way out to clean kennels and then work some cadaver with Jesea and Coda.
Max gets the day off lounging with the cats in his doghouse.
Ember will get a few more sessions and some play time before the winds pick up again this afternoon......plus I will be setting up some jars with various accelerants so that we can introduce her to scents in a couple weeks.
Not to mention the human interaction I will be doing today, but this is a dog board so that is not something to add here.
Woo Hoo, it is going to be a great new year.
What resolutions have you all made that have to do with your four-legged partners?
Mine are:
No more dogs until Ember is grown.
Concentrate and learn more about positive training.
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
Yes, Happy new year to all Leerburgers and your tribes/packs.......I was asleep by 10:30 last night but at the stroke of midnight, all the noise and fireworks landed a now-90 lb. gsd on my stomache............so I got to see the new year in trying to explain to our new boy that we are not at war it's just a holiday. Sheesh!! Luckily the 14 year old sheltie mix has lost enough hearing that she slept thru the festivities.
Our new year resolutions have a lot to do with getting up and out walking on a much more regular basis.....I'm too old to be couching it this much!
Happy New Year to all the great people here!! I've learned so much from all you guys (and still have alot to learn!) I think 2008 will be a good year. I plan on getting a GSD pup in the spring and think I have found a breeder with good dogs and decent prices.
Carol: My resolution, if you'd call it that,...let's call it committment- this year to the dogs is this, to walk them more and to really spend more time training them. Bindi is begging for more and Cody needs more, my husband is ill and can't work with Cody like he planned. So, my resolutions are to do my best to keep my pups in tip top shape, to train them the best i can and to be a consistent and balanced pack leader. TOday I bought them a tred mill for those days when we can't get outside, too rainy etc. or I am sick. Or when I've walk and trained them and they just want more. And I plan on buying a little agility kit, for fun, give them something to do outside for fun. They love to run.
I was very blessed this weekend, family came over and bindi went to her mat and stayed there, admist running and playing kids and I could see she would have loved to run with them.
I have other commitments, but this is what I intend to do with my dogs. I sure hope I can follow through, I look forward to it.
God bless you. I too have made a committment to have no other dogs for awhile due to Cody, he is like having 10 dogs. He is continually jumping and hoping and active, he can really tire me out.
God bless you
