Ok so you guys have got me curious. A local store has just started carrying frozen raw, sorry don't recall the brand. Not sure I'm really to take the plunge but I'd like to try some of it. Any thoughts on the frozen stuff, I know it's more expensive, or on feeding along with kibble?
Dear Lisa: I have not tried frozen raw, but for me, and I have two dogs, I have found BARF diet to be less expensive. My dogs do not eat commercial kibble due to chemicals they put in the stuff, so they will be healthier and have less vet visits, and this is the first time I have fed raw, and my dogs are very happy, very healthy and have lots of energy, and less gas and stomach problems.
I am sure someone else can help you with the frozen raw.
God bless you
The pre-packaged raw is usually more expensive, but it would be great way to get your feet wet, so to speak. Try a few meals of it and see how your dogs like it...I wouldn't mix it with kibble though (due to different digestion rates).
Ok just did a web search and I'm pretty sure it's Nature's Variety they are carrying.
Mike, You haven't seen Jerri eat. Her philosophy is eat first ask questions later. I did let her have a taste of some raw ground beef the other day when we had bugers. She thought it was yummy
I've started Teagan on some frozen raw food, she has been having it for the last few days. Ours comes in cubes, and I've started adding a couple of them to her reduced kibble to ease the transition. She will go onto 1 raw/1 kibble a day shortly.
A word of warning - they LOVE it! As soon as it starts thawing out, Teagan can smell it and goes mad trying to get at it!
As we can't yet do the full BARF diet, the frozen stuff is very useful, and so far it's been excellent. Give it a try, and let us know how you get on.

when i moved luc to raw, i went w/patties first as a way to introduce us both to it.
the only thing - i don't know what the brand you're using is like, but there are 2 brands sold in stores around here, and not all the patties have ground bone (component feeding), so i'd check the ingredients of what jerri is getting to make sure she's getting a complete diet.
