6 years military 4 years dog training and handling experience with explosive and narcotic detection, patrol, obedience, gunfire tolerance, scouting, and building search. Living in San Antonio area, but willing to relocate. Looking for a training kennel, service dog kennel, or breeding kennel. Will handle a dog, but will not deploy overseas. Thanks for any help with networking or employment opportunity.

Do you know any police departments that hire ex-military handlers directly into the K9 section? Or does anyone know?

That would be unusual. Generally, you would have to complete an academy, complete the FTO program and then 2 to 5 years before being eligible for any specialized duty, which includes canine. There may be that rare occasion that someone is hired straight into a canine program, but in my experience it is very rare.
