I have an opportunity to purchase a Czech pup. There is a breeder about 10 minutes from me who has a litter of pups Now I've been told that these dogs are very intelligent, can be stubborn or hard headed but all in all a good choice. Now the breeder sent me the links to the parent's pedigree, but I have a hard time understanding it. A neighbour of mine had one of her pups and he grew into a great dog, even though she didn't really do much with him. He's gone to live with a relative cause she didn't really have room for him and now he's a happy, well adjusted big boy.
As for Czech dogs. Its impossible to generalize an entire bloodline. It is down to the breeder and what the breeder considers a "good dog". There are crap Czech dogs just like there are great ones.
I'd like to see it too. I have 2 Czech dogs and although I'm not an expert now at least I can recognize which are the dogs that are normally bred that have given good results!
Patty, I think you would have to look at what you want to do with the dog (i.e., pet, sport, service dog etc).. and see what her other dogs are like.
For instance, if she has a lot of high-drive dog that are used for schutzhund and police work and you want a family pet, it might not be the dog for you.
Or if she has a lot of dogs that are "nice family pets" and you want a hard, tough dog for ringsport.... see what I mean? It depends on the breeders dogs and your goals for the pup.
I plan on going to visit her in a couple of weeks and meet her pack. Her male, Demon is a very handsome dog and the dog my neighbour had seemed to be a very well mannered boy. She didn't do anything sport wise with him, the most exercise I saw him get was a walk around the neighbourhood.
